This quote is saying, character supersedes skills. So even if you are incredibly smart but are a victim to vice, then it's not good. The way you are is more important that how sagacious you are. So you can get all A's but do drugs and ctr then no. You have to be a good person before being smart. The only thing that will happen is you will infallibly lose you intelligence. Because of all those drugs and vice you have. So in conclusion Ralph is right.
